FAQS

Q: What if my child cannot attend every summer practice?

A: Summer practices are optional but strongly encouraged. We understand that families travel during the summer and have other comittments. Because of this, students are not penalized for absences during summer training, but please know that consistent attendance is essential to building fitness and preparing athletes for the fall season.

Q: Can my child still join if they've never run before?

A: ABSOLUTELY! Cross-country is open to all levels of ability -- no experience needed! We meet every runner where they are at and guide them towards progress and confidence. New runners are welcome to join us during summer training to try the program out -- no comittment needed to attend.

Q: What does my child need for practice/for the season?

A: The only actual thing that your child will need is a good pair of running shoes. Please refer to the Gear page for a full list of recommended items for the season and where to get them all.

Q: What if my child gets injured or feels pain while running?

A: We teach athletes the difference between soreness and injury, emphasizing listening to their bodies. If pain occurs, they should alert a coach right away. We can odify workouts or refer to the school trainer if needed.

Q: Are meets and practices mandatory?

A: Yes, during the regular season, meets and practices are expected to be attended unless there is illness or family emergency. Our policies are outlined in our handbook.

Q: Can I attend meets and watch my child race?

A: Absolutely! We love having spectators at meets -- it means so much to the kids to have support in the crowd. We can provide guidance on where to stand on each course so you will know where to cheer!

Q: What's the time comittment for cross-country?

A: Practices are held Monday through Friday for about an hour to an hour and a half during the mandatory season. These practices are held right after school In the summer, practices may run for two hours. Meets usually occur once or twice a week during the fall, sometimes on Saturday mornings.

Q: How can I stay involved?

A: Please follow us on social media, check out our website regularly, and join our Parent Remind. The boosters are also always looking for volunteers to help organize fundraisers. We will also be looking for snack donations during the season, so be on the lookout for that. We value your partnership!
